D1: Justify the Interactivity of Your Website

D1: Justify the Interactivity of Your Website

I am going to ensure that my website is interactive. I have already discussed my website interactivity ideas which you can see in my P2 blog post. I am going to use an interactive photo gallery, a drop down menu, embed or use YouTube videos on my website, include lots of hyperlinks...

While creating my website, I will need to make sure I include elements of interactivity. This is web 2.0; websites became interactive so we can now comment on posts, create UGC, like and dislike things…. This has allowed us to make websites more interesting.

I will use interactivity for my website, so my audience are more likely to stay on my website and look at my work. I want to create a photo gallery on my home page that shows some of my work, the audience will be able to use the arrows to move between the images, but they will move after a set time anyway. They will also be able to roll over the gallery and this will give them a name of the project so they can click this and go to the project page. I also want to embed videos (probably YouTube videos) into my website. This will allow the users to view my work and pause it whenever they would like.

Since I am adding a blog, I would like to know if the information is useful for students or employers. I could add a thumbs up button to show how many people have seen the blog post and enjoy it. I could potentially use adverts in my blog so I can gain revenue from this, users can interact with these and view the product advertised. I will not be adding a comment section since this can cause negative comments on my blogs (from trolls for example) which is discouraging to future employers.

My contact page will be very interactive. I will include links to my social media through using the social media icons. When the users click on them, they will be sent to my social media pages. The users will be able to write any questions or request to contact me privately through writing in the contact form.

I also want to use a rollover menu, the hyperlinks to the menu pages will change when the mouse hovers over them. I am thinking of either doing a rainbow underline rollover or a text swapping rollover effect.
